Practise vowels use and embed CVC word spelling. Children pick a card and identify the missing vowel to complete their word then post the card in the appropriate postbox. Ideal for small group intervention work or fun, end of lesson class activities. Includes 50 cards (50 x 35mm) and 5 brightly coloured bostboxes (140 x 60 x 60mm).

Reception - Letters and Sounds Phase 2

• By the end of the phase many children should be able to read some VC and CVC words and to spell them either using magnetic letters or by writing the letters on paper or on whiteboards.

• Some children need a lot of practice before they grasp CVC blending.

• Some children need a lot of practice before they grasp CVC segmentation Phase 2 Assessment

• Be able to orally blend and segment CVC words.

• Some children will not have fully grasped CVC blending and segmentation but may know all the Phase Two letters. CVC blending and segmentation continues throughout Phase Three.
